Time to speak up and be heard
as a ROAR member. In this issue
of REV UP youll find a ballot
for Vice President and Directors of the odd numbered regions. Important
note: Only original ballot forms will be
accepted, however copies of the ballot may
be used for additional family members
but must be submitted with the primary
members original Ballot. Your ballot must
be received back at ROAR Headquarters no
later than November 14, 2005. ROAR is an
organization run by and for the benefit of its
membership. Dont go unheard vote today! Monster Truck Rules are Official ROAR now has complete rules for both Standard and Unlimited Monster Trucks. By overwhelming popularity these two classes have become official. There are two engine size ranges in
Standard, but the to engine size ranges will run together. Unlimited is basically anything that doesnt
fit the dimensions and regulations of either Standard class. You can find all the rules for Monster Truck

Vote for Vice President & Region Director for your region (odd numbered regions only) Deadline November 14 Administrators Column Fred Hohwart This Rev-Up is one of the most important issues of
the year because it includes the ballot that allows the
ROAR membership to vote for their representatives.
This year we vote for Vice President and odd
numbered Region Directors for a two year term which
begins January 1. The deadline for nominations was
extended this year to the last minute to provide time
for everyone, even those with a late Rev-Up delivery,
to get their nomination on the ballot. The nominees
all have agreed to serve if elected, volunteering, at
no pay, to serve the membership. Do your part by
voting. Write in candidates will be accepted provided
you have talked to the person and they agree to
serve if elected. Write in elections are subject to
approval of the ROAR Executive Committee.
Remember that only original ballots will be
accepted, except that copies of ballots for family
members will be accepted if mailed in at the same
time as the original ballot.
To provide the best chance that the ballot reaches
as many members as possible, promptly, we are
mailing this issue of Rev-Up First Class Mail. Note
that ballots must be received by November 14 so
the results can be reported in the December issue.
Remember to let the Administrators Office know if
you have moved so that future issues of Rev-Up also
reach you. n Competition Director David Lee I was very impressed with the response to my request
for bids to hold ROAR National Championship events
for 2006. We have all of the classes covered with at
least one bid and the class committees are currently
reviewing the bids before recommending selections.
Additionally, the 1/18 Scale Class Committee is
now coming together. Scott Hill has been selected
as committee chairman and he is working with sev-
eral volunteers to fill the committee. They have been
tasked with determining the configuration and size of the vehicles, and will be addressing both the on-
road and off-road venues. I will have more regarding
this effort in the next report, including the rest of the
committee members.
This issue has the ROAR ballot where you have
the opportunity to elect your leadership for Vice
Presidential position and the odd region direc-
tors. This is your chance to voice your pleasure or
displeasure with the incumbents, or to show you
support to a new candidate seeking a position with
your. I encourage all of you to exercise your oppor-
tunity to make a difference. n Promotions Director Dawn Sanchez Greetings ROAR Members! www.roarracing.com has
a new look! Check it out and give us your feedback.
The region directors will be able to update their
own area with sanctioned events and soon with
individual message forums for important messages
for their region members. Within a year or so, well
have access to online balloting for advisory and
board member voting and a suggestion box for
Rick to review with member ideas and comments.
(of course, we would like to keep the suggestions
PG-13, if you would -- ha ha!)
Yes, after all you have commented to us, we
did hear you. Brandon Rhode, about 2 years ago,
started working on the new graphics and layout and
about six months ago, Corey Cochran took over the
duties of finishing the website and has taken over
the helm of running it all.
Corey may be reached at Corey@dialedrc.com if
you have anything you might want to add to the site
or suggestions.
Youll notice a new link to the RevUp which
already has the last three for download and this
one as well. The nice thing with this idea is we have
the website version of the RevUp ready for viewing
weeks before they are received in your mailbox!
Also, there is a link for promotions which I
havent utilized fully yet but you can find a down-
loadable version of the track pack which was created several years ago by Carlton Eppes, Chris
Raffaelli, Don Hill and Art Davenport. Its in need
of updating so any of your suggestions would be
greatly helpful!
And....... soon...... membership payments via Pay
Pal!! We are working very hard on that one...we are
hoping to announce this addition in a few months.
By the time you receive this, the Executive
Committee will have already met for the required
fall meeting and the bids for 2006 national events
will have been discussed. Please expect announce-
ments from the Competition Director soon as to
which venues were awarded the events. 2006 will
have the first Truck National - with Monster Truck,
Unlimited Monster Truck and 1:10 Fuel Truck...we
are expecting a large turnout for what will most
certainly become a popular event. You can find the
newly ratified monster truck and unlimited monster
truck rules on the website as well. On the home
page is a direct link and you are able to download
the rules (2 pages) for your use. The 2006 rule book
will have these included.
And lastly, this issue contains the ballots for odd
numbered region directors and vice president of
ROAR. Please, please, please...send in your vote. If
your region does not have a candidate nominated -
write in a candidate you feel would do a great job in
promoting RC racing in your area. But, be sure you
tell them first! ROAR cannot function without region
directors who know the local areas! n 2 officers rEPOrTS officers President: Rick Wilson 535 Crater Camp Dr., Monte Nido, CA 91302 Phone: 818.591.7531; fastracer02@yahoo.com Vice President: Mike Queller 9212 Gallant Fox, Austin, TX 78737 Phone: 512.326.8481; spdln@aol.com Secretary / Treasurer: Randy Holst 9400 NE 121st St., Kirkland, WA 98034 Phone: 425.373.4875; randyholst@hotmail.com Promotions Director: Dawn Sanchez 6207 W. Connecticut Maine Massachusett New Hampshire New York Rhode Island Vermont rEGION 1 This issue contains the ballot for the election of the Vice
President and for the odd number Regional Director
positions. As I have said a million times in the past, dont
let the election slide by without voting. You do make a
difference when you vote. After struggling with this deci-
sion, I have decided that I will not seek another term as
Region Director. My term ends 12/31/05. Also, to put to
bed some rumors, while I did consider this for quite some
time, I will not accept a nomination for Vice President
this year. I do intend to stay active in Region 1 and ROAR
and will continue to offer my help and opinion wherever possible. The past couple of years have been very interesting. I thank everyone who has guided me along and offered help. I am hoping that my term has helped to bring Region 1 back on the map and to the forefront of the community. The night I wrote this is the close of the nomination acceptance period. To my knowledge, no one has been
nominated for any of the odd regions. It speaks volumes
to the state of things. It you want improvements, you
have to be involved. Write your name in the ballot if you
feel you can make a difference in ROARbecause you
can make difference.
I am planning the 2006 schedule so the new Director
will not be behind the eight ball when he/she starts their
term. I have been receiving bids for the 2006 season. I
will release the schedule as soon as the Nationals sched-
ule is released so we can be sure not to cross dates. As
typical of the past couple of years, the racing schedule
in Region 1 looks to be quite full again in 2006. If there
are any other tracks which would like to be considered
for sanctioned events, please contact me as soon as pos-
sible. But act now, space is very limited. Racing in Region 1 is so good, that there are now clubs defecting from
Region 2 to join the scene in Region 1!
Dont forget about the calendar at http://www.local-
endar.com/public/region1. The entire schedule in and
around Region 1 is includedwell at least the facilities
that sent me information. If you would like your race
event or weekly racing included, please drop me a line.
The following is the listing of the ROAR sanctioned
events. For non ROAR sanctioned events, see the calen-
dar. The schedule is jam packed. If your event has yet
to be scheduled, let me know the details and I will help
promote it, ROAR or not.
I do apologize for the race results in the last issue of
Rev-Up . My report did include the name of every racer at every sanctioned event where results were available for
that issue. Again, my apologies to those looking for the
results and did not find your name.
*Promotions Note: Chris Raffaelli did provide every
single finishing result in his RevUp article the last issue
but due to space constraints in a limited number of pages
in the RevUp, we were forced to edit to the top three
finishers only. We apologize as well any inconvenience or

Delaware Maryland New Jersey Pennsylvania Washington DC Virgina West Virginia Im pleased to report that Craig Rawling has been
extremely helpful in administering the off-road seg-
ment of our regional races throughout our region.
My racing schedule has been limited this summer as
Im in the process of moving, again and his volunteer
help is much appreciated. Craig and I will continue
to work together in coordinating events with Craig
focusing on the off-road venues. Both Craig and his
dad are committed to maintaining the highest level
of off-road racing throughout the region. So far,
Craig has had three new off road tracks join ROAR
this year. My exposure throughout the region will
increase once I have a chance to get settled by the
end of October.
Potential Carpet On-Road National in Region 2
for 2006. Im still waiting to hear back from the
ROAR approval committee. I know that David Lee,
the Competition Director has received our request
and has filed it with the approval committee. Bob
VanWagner and Mimi Wong have prepared a com-
prehensive and well plan package to put before
the ROAR class committee. A decision will be made
sometime during the fall of 2005, lets keep our
fingers crossed. Race Reports
2nd Leg of the Fuel Off-Road Region 2 Championship
Points Series: (Reported by Craig Rawling, Off-Road
Director). We arrived at the Tiltyard, Friday morning
for open practice. Mother Nature looked as if she
was not going to cooperate. The track was really wet. I figured the race would
be cancelled but Homer and crew assured me we would get the event off
without a hitch. The next day practice was delayed until the track dried out after which time qualifying began.
After the second round of qualifying, the top posi-
tions were as follows: Dave Saunders TQ for Monster
Truck and 1/8th Scale buggy. Dave was on fire and
looked like the driver to catch in both classes. In
10th scale Stadium Truck Brian Miskolcki was TQ
who went on to win the 15minute A-main event by
6 laps. Unlimited Monster truck started out to be
a great race. Craig Rawling was leading the race for
the first 7 or 8 minutes until Dave Saunders passed
him for the lead. Craig had troubles and Dave went
on to a first place finish. The start of the 30min 1/8th
scale A-Main was shaping up to be a great show.
Chris Crews, the man to beat all season took an early
lead with Justin Dyer, Mike ODonnell and Jason
Miller chasing to catch up. Just as Chris switched
to cruise control, Mother Nature opened up and it
started pouring. At that point Chris was 7 seconds
ahead of Justin Dryer. The rain got so bad the Race
Director decided to call the race, just after Chris feel
behind Justin for the lead. The race was called at
the 28 minute point with Justin Dyer taking the win.
Id like to thank Lisa, Homer and the Allman family
for making us all feel at home. The food was great
and the company even better. You have a first class
facility and know how to treat racers. Also would
like to thank our series sponsors TQ Fuel, EB MODS,
Tony Screws. The next race will take place at Hobby
Hut for the 3rd leg of the series event to determine
the Region 2 Fuel Off-Road Champion. Here are the
results for the event. 1/10 Fuel Truck A-Main: Brian Miskolczi(TQ), Ryan

SERIES** 1/10 Fuel Sedan Sunday, 6.26.05, Largo, MD
(Coverage of this event was provided by Ted Brown).
Needing only two qualifying heats to put his Mugen
on the pole, Eric Jones took the top qualifying spot
in the second heat with a time of 20 laps in 5:08.03. In fact, Eric and teammate Vincent Jackson would be
the only two drivers to reach 20 laps in a qualifying
heat. If that werent enough for the intimidation
factor, the C-Whit racing team would also place two
other drivers in the A-main. Chris Whitney made it a
tri-fecta for the team rounding out the third of the
top three qualifying positions, and Rhys Robinson
would take the 7th spot on the starting grid. The
green flag saw Rhys Robinson take the jump on the
field, managing to get his car to the scorers gate
first, followed closely by Troy Woodson, Eric Jones,
Vincent Jackson, and Antwane Johnson. Rhys would
hold that lead for nine laps before surrendering it
to his teammate and rightful owner Eric Jones in
lap 10.
The race would have no clear favorite early on. The
abrasive but even surface of the FastLane R/C race
track together with daunting 45 minute length of
the A-main led spectators to wonder if pit strategies
and tire wear would be a factor in the race. By lap
twelve, things looked to be working perfectly for
the C-Whit racing team with the top four positions
going to Eric Jones, Vincent Jackson, Rhys Robinson,
and Chris Whitney respectively. On lap 24 however,
it became clear that things werent going to go as
planned. Vincent Jackson pulled into the pits for
what would end up being a 51 second pit stop. This
moved Whitney to third. Rhys Robinson would find
himself in a battle for fourth with Troy Woodson, and
the quiet but skilled driving of Dennis Treyes allowed
him to put his Serpent 710 into second place. Dennis
would find himself chasing Eric for the rest of the
race. Jones pulled as many as a 4 lap lead on the
next closest competitor (Dennis Treyes) and the A-
main figured to be a run away, until lap number 91
when Eric pulled his car into the pits, for what must
have been a tire change. The Treyes-driven serpent
pulled to within one lap of the leader, but with fresh
tires, Eric would be impossible to catch.
Vincent Jackson, after having fallen as far back
as 8th place on lap 27 because of car problems,
would get his car back on the track and gain 5
positions to third place over the course of the next
117 laps. Anybody whos seen Vincent race, knows
that no lead is safe if hes on the track with time
on the clock. Kobey Calloway got into a battle
with Vincent for third while Alex Sharak managed
to run in the fifth spot a good portion of the race.
Seven of nine cars would finish the 45 minute
main, which is a testament to the skill level of the
competition in region two. But, the real story is
that at the end of the day, the podium held Mugen,
Serpent, and Kyosho respectively. The checkered
flag saw Eric Jones, Dennis Treyes, Vincent Jackson,
Kobey Calloway, Troy Woodson, Rhys Robinson,
Alex Sharak, Antwane Johnson, and Chris Whitney
in that order.
Also notable, was Gerry Evans, who, after having
qualified poorly, drove a brilliant C-main, and was
poised to take the b-main, but his car just couldnt
take the beating of back-to-back races. Amazingly
however, Kevin Johnson, won the B-main even after
having lost a front right wheel with over five laps left
in the race. Race officials did not black flag Johnson,
because he somehow remained in complete control
of the car, even on three wheels. Region 2 Champions 2004 Champs:

Florida rEGION 4 Its time again for my report on whats going on in
the region. Weve got a few regionals and Nationals
coming up. Hopeful to make the electric on-road
Nationals go as smoothly as possible Ive been in
contact with Joe Freitas several times each week. I
know Im looking forward to this event and it should
be event free. Several weeks ago (Sept 3rd and 4th)
Speedline hosted a warm up race. Unfortunately it
was during the aftermath of Katrina and the real
high price of gas. I as well as many Floridians wish
the best for all those from Louisiana, Mississippi
and Alabama. Having a Tornado hit my business last
year I do know what they are feeling. You just cant explain that feelingI know I cant.
Anyway we had about 50 plus racers
show up for the warm up race. It did
not rain during the qualifying or mains
(it did rain Saturday night).
The new ROAR website is up and
running. Hopefully the region 4 sec-
tion will list the current races coming up. Ive just got to get the time to do it. By the time
you read this it will probably be done for the remain-
ing part of the year. At this time if your interested in
hosting a region race for 2006 now would be a good
time to get those bids to me.
For some Off Road news there has been some talk
that the Minnreg club and Lake Park are merging
into a new club. Also the electric Off-Road Region
race date is still yet to be determined. Talks have
been for possibly hosting the race in the first 2-3
weeks in January (at the latest). Well keep everyone
posted.
Some bad news for the Nitro On-road guysthe
Sunshine Bandits have shut down their Lakeland
Track. Ive always heard great things about this club
and their track. Its to bad Florida has lost another
great track. Probably by the time this comes out the electric
on-road nationals at Speedline will be over. The
date is October 6th-9th and there is already over
160 racers entered. Both Joe and I have had many
conversations about some of the possible problems
we might encounter. Hopefully we have covered
everything by the time of the event. Also com-
ing up is the fuel open on-road nationals held in
Kissimmee on November 3rd-6th.
The FSEARA state series race at Fast and Furious
was successful. The last race of the year is set for
MDI at Royal Palm Beach on November 12th-13th.
This is also the date for everyone that wants to host
a state race for 2006 to attend. We also vote on
proposed rule changes for 2006.I would also like to
commend Izzy Santiago our state director for giving
up racing in the actual series to just directing the
series. With this dedication you can see the differ-
ence at each race this year.
Well I know this is a short news section for me
but Im waiting on the few people to send me some
information about the various series. Maybe next
issue, until then see you at the nationals (electric
that is). Bill n C Race Club 13310 Mustang Trail, Sunshine Ranches FL 33330 USA Site: Mills Pond Pk, Ft. Lauderdale, 954 525-3304 quads216@bellsouth.net www.rc-racing.com /Broward conf. tions to take place. In this publication of Rev-up you
will find the ballet for Vice President and the Region 5
Director. Please take the time to vote and let your voice
be heard. This is your chance to elect the people you
feel are best for ROAR and R/C racing. Lets get out the
vote and show that we care and are concerned about
our Region.
You will notice that my name is not on the ballet. The
reason is simple and the decision was easy to make. My
family needs the time I spend performing the duties of
Region Director. Although it does not take an enormous
amount of time when I add the Region Director, Electric
off-Road Committee, and my club responsibilities it
became over whelming. I promised to complete Kennys
term in office and I have honored that promise. Whats happening in the region: As of the last publica-
tion of Rev-up, Region 5 has become the second largest
region in ROAR. Region 12 is the only region with more
members. This is due to the clubs, series, and racers
believing in ROAR and their vision in what ROAR brings to
the R/C table. I continue to believe that Region 5 has the
best racers in the country (Although I am a bit biased).
The activity in the Region this year has exceeded my
expectations. The support from the clubs, series direc-
tors, and racers has been and continues to be fantastic.
Last year we had just a couple of sanctioned races and
this year we have scheduled seven races and Im still
working on a few others. Although seven does not seem
high, that is a 300% increase over last year. In October we have three sanctioned races scheduled. On October 8th is the Region 5 Off-Road electric Champs at CRCRC in Columbus. On October 22nd is the Region 5 Carpet On-Road Champs at
RC Screws Speedway in Michigan.
And on October 29 is the Illinois State Off-Road Electric Champs host- ed by Redline R/C Raceway. Please show your support by attending these races. Region 5 Off-Road Gas Champs: On August 13th JCP
RC in Indiana hosted the ROAR Region 5 Gas Off-Road
Championships. This was in the middle of the heat wave
that hit the Midwest and it was hot! The outdoor facility
was ready for a regional race and the racers that showed
were as well. The race went on without a hitch and the
JCP crew did an outstanding job. Once the dust settled
the winners are: 1/8 Scale BuggyKevin Wilson, Gas
TruckKJ, Monster TruckBryan Seitz. 2005 ROAR Michigan State Championship: Redline
Racing R/C Track was pleased to host the 2005 ROAR
Michigan State Championship. A great time was had by
all, a lot of great competition, between a great bunch of
racers. Rain on the scheduled practice day (Friday) left
the track well watered and in great shape for the races
on Saturday (electric) and Sunday (nitro). Congrats to all
the winners. A big thanks to Team Losi driver Alan Horne

Thanks John, let me know the details on this so I can
pass it on to the racers, so they can keep an eye on the
next publication.
P.S. One other detail maybe worth mentioning, the club
had decided to donate $5.00 from each registration for
the state race to the American Red Cross for hurricane
relief. 59 entries equals a $259.00 check to the Red
Cross. We had hoped this might spur more entries and
the club felt good doing it. God knows they need all the
help they can get. You can go to www.rcxxx.com and
get some feed back on the state race on the message
board. Its a message board that seems to center around
r/c interest in Michigan. Thanks, Glenn LeeRedline
Racing R/C Track Thank you! I want to thank you for your support this
past year. The region was grown and I hope that the
awareness for ROAR role has grown as well. The time
I have spent as Region Director has been enlightening
and I have met some great people. I have found a new
appreciation for the other forms of R/C racing that were
once unknown to me. Region 5 is full of passionate rac-
ers and they all seem to love this hobby/sport. n Region Director: John Kohan

Arkansas Louisiana Mississippi I was always told as a child to save the best for
last. I hope that you will forgive me but I am
going to do the best part FIRST! For the first time in
many years a ROAR State Off Road Championship
was held in Arkansas. Wolf Pack Race Track was
host to the 2005 ROAR Razorback State Off Road
Championships. Controlled practice was held Friday
August 19, 2005. Racing was scheduled for Saturday
August 20 and Sunday August 21, 2005. The weath-
er turned out beautiful. The competition was very
serious. But, no one lost sight of the fact that we
were supposed to be having fun. The starting gate
worked flawlessly. This device makes starting gas
vehicles evenly, a snap. If you would like to see what I am talking about, check out http://
www.wolfpackracetrack.com for some
great pictures as well as lap results for
the Razorback State Championships. The results from this race are as follows: Adult Electric1. Brad Snodgrass; 2. Scott Flint,
Sr.; 3. Scott Flint, Jr.
Youth Buggy1. Boo Snodgrass; 2. Cody Flint; 3.
Dalton Joslin.
Outlaw Buggy1. Brad Wilson; 2. Joe Williamson;
3. Scott Flint, Sr.
Monster Truck1. Scott Flint, Sr.; 2. Brad
Snodgrass; 3. Josh Seale. Now that we have broken the ice I hope to see an
Arkansas State Championship every year. It is very
evident that this years event was a great success.
One of the brightest stars in our Region 6 has
gone out. Red Stick Raceway in Baton Rouge, LA has closed their doors forever. Mike and Mary Pino
have given us many fond memories of good times
that were had on their racetrack. Thank you for the
good times, and good fellowship, Mike and Mary.
Good luck in the future.
In our region Katrina is a four letter word.
Tracks in the coastal areas no longer exist. Normally,
when people evacuate from the coast, they come to
Jackson, MS. Jackson, being almost 200 miles north,
is normally a safe place to hide from hurricanes.
NOT THIS TIME! Small Cars Unlimited lost the roof
from the front half of the building. Stuff got wet.
Many in this area still have no power. However, no
one is complaining. Many people south of us have
lost everything. When your house no longer exists
you are homeless. When your place of employment
no longer exists you are jobless. What is there to
go back to? Counting our blessings has become a
survival tool. n Region Director: Rahe Koch

Iowa Kansas Missouri Nebraska All right, theres a lot of information to cover in this
issue, so lets forget that I messed up and missed
the last Rev-up deadline and get to it. First, here are
a couple of race reports:
On June 5th, one of this regions longest last-
ing clubs, The Over the Wall Gang, hosted The
2005 Nebraska State Off road Championships.
This race serves as a model of what all State Championships should be.
The race was well organized,
well attended, fun, and most
importantly, it took place in
one day.
There were several heats of most classes, and all three rounds of qualify-
ing were exceptionally close. The last round had
determined most of the top qualifying spots. Jerry
Doherty stood atop of the Stock Truck field, while
Dale Nysven dominated Modified Truck. Matt Nelson
was the leader in the up and coming Novice class.
Alex Sturgeon (yours truly) led the field in both Mod
and Stock Buggy.
The head to head racing in the mains was intense.
Jerry Doherty had to battle through a few early mis- takes to overcome Josh Halte for the Stock Truck win.
Shawn Stanger followed them up in third.
There was no stopping Dale Nysven in Modified
Truck. He checked out and left Brian Cox and Over
the Wall Gang President John Schoenauer to main-
tain their 2nd and 3rd place finishes.
Matt Nelson won the Novice class over Matt
Deboer and Ron Clark. The novice A-main was one
of the most fun races of the day as parents and rela-
tives of each of the participants cheered the whole
way through. Matt Nelson drove a clean race and
avoided most of the pileups.
Alex Sturgeon took the Stock Buggy title. Taylor
Rohleder and Tim Marco rounded out an all Team
Associated B4 top three.
Modified Buggy turned out to be the closest and most exciting race. Dale Nysven patiently followed Alex
Sturgeon nose to tail for the entire five minutes and
was clearly the fastest car on the track. On the last lap
he made his move and nudged Alex over, but turned
himself around as well, which allowed Brian Cox to get
in the mix. The marshal separated Alex and Dale right
in front of Brian and the three freight trained to the line
just as the end-of-race tone whistled. One more lap and
Dale Nysven probably would have taken it, but instead
finished second, with Brian Cox third, and Alex Sturgeon
with another win on the day.
Id like to thank John Schoenauer and all the officers
and members of the Over the Wall Gang for taking a
leap of faith to host its first ROAR race. Check out the
clubs website sometime, http://users.conpoint.com/
jschoenr/. If youre interested in hosting a State race its
as easy as me saying so. It would be cool if every class in
every state had a champion.
The 2005 Region 8 Fuel Off road Regionals took place
this year at Novelty RC Raceway June 17-19. The Novelty
Crew did a great job of hosting the 60+ entries and
provided a fast and smooth layout to race on. One of
the most interesting things about this years race was
the monster truck turnout. With the ROAR rules still in
question, (*see promotions note) rules were borrowed
from the RC Pro Series, splitting unlimited and standard
monster trucks apart. There were 23 standard monster
truck entries.
*Promotions note: Provisional MT rules were posted on
an easily accessible website and they were announced in
early 2005 as to their location and proper usage. Official
MT rules can now be found at www.roarracing.com and
in .pdf format for downloading. These rules will be found
in the 2006 ROAR rule book.
3 rounds of qualifying took place on Saturday. At the
end of the day Alex Sturgeon TQd both Gas Truck and
1/8 scale, Kenny Belcher stood over the mounds of
Standard Monster Trucks, and John Taylor held the top spot in Unlimited Monster Truck.
Those not in the A-main still had a shot through the
bump ups for the top two in each of the lower mains. Ed
Gaines and Ben Burtle made the show in 8th scale, Mike
Sanders and A.J. Lamb moved up from the Gas truck B-
main, and J.R. Sanger and Jason Cleeton climbed their
way into the Standard Monster Truck A-main.
45-minute mains awaited those fortunate enough to
survive qualifying, and the mains proved to be harder
than ever to finish. Only a handful of drivers in each class
drove the entire race without incident.
The Gas Truck main started out fairly smooth, but
on the 8th lap, TQ Alex Sturgeon broke allowing Aaron
Pucci to secure the lead until he broke out on the 24th
lap, leaving Cameron Martin to coast to the win. Only
half the field remained when the final tone rang. Brad
Cunningham finished second and Adam Wellman fin-
ished third.
In the Standard Monster Truck main TQ Kenny Belcher
had problems and eventually bowed out on lap 51, 24-
minutes into the race. Brad Cunningham drove his LST
to the win one lap ahead of Bill Nichols in second and 3
laps ahead of Steve Campbell in third.
Production Monster truck was interesting to say the
least. At one point all three of the drivers were off the
track. After 45-minutes all three drivers were running,
but they were separated by about 20 laps apiece. The
final order was Ron Harrison first, TQ John Taylor second,
and Jason Cleeton third.
1/8 scale not only saw the most drivers still running
at the end of the race, but also the closest race. TQ Alex
Sturgeon relinquished the lead early and never got it
back, but kept it close finishing only seven seconds
behind the winner, Aaron Pucci. Nick Haberberger fin-
ished third only a few laps away. Most of the drivers
not running Proline Knuckle tires or something similar
finished the race with no tread left on their tires, literally
running slicks for the last 15-20 minutes of the race. The popularity of nitro off-road racing in our region is
undeniable with the Kyosho and Mugen races drawing
some of the biggest crowds of the year. With a big thanks
to Rex Franke and all the Novelty crew that organized the
event, the nitro off-road regionals will continue to grow
and be a mainstay of our regions calendar. Visit their
website at www.noveltyrc.com.
Now for some news and pleas for mercy. The 2006
Carpet On road Regionals are February 17-19 and the
2006 Carpet Oval Regionals are March 3-5 at Fastlane
Raceway in Blue Springs, Missouri. Shane has made
some vast improvements to the facility, and if the races
are anything like last years races it is really going to be
something great.
The 2005 Electric Off road Regionals should have taken
place by the time you read this and Ill have a full report
on it in the next rev-up.
The 2005 Paved On road Regionals took place at
Fastlane in August. You can find the results on rctech.net
on the Fastlane thread in the regional forums. Ill see if
I can talk Mark Z or Shane into a full report for the next
rev-up, if not I suppose I could always fake it. One thing
Id like to say is that even though the turnout was small,
it is only a starting point for the future and I appreciate
all that attended.
I would like to have all of next years races in place by
the January issue of Rev-up. Please, please, please get
in touch with me if you want to host a regional or state
race, otherwise Im going to track you down anyway and
ask you. The races I need to place for next year are the
electric and nitro off road regionals, the dirt and paved
ovalyes, I said paved oval regionals and the paved on
road regionals. I want to rotate these races around to all
the various tracks as best I can, so dont think your track
couldnt get a race because you might be surprised.
Thats it for now. Keep in touch with me. I get e-mails

like a busy month of October.
The Fuel Off-road Regionals will be hosted by
GEARS R/C Club in Harlingen, TX, on Oct. 15th
and 16th. Hobby town San Antonio will host the Electric On
road Regionals Oct. 22nd and 23rd. The Fuel On road Regionals will be hosted by RCCARS in Austin on Oct. 29th and 30th. The Electric Off-road Regionals will be hosted by Enid RC Raceway, date still to be set. Stay tuned to the new ROAR website for more
information as it becomes available. Did I say new
website? Yes, ROAR has a new website. If you go
to www.roarracing.com you will see something
wonderful that took over two years to produce.
Thanks to Corey Cochran for a job well done. Take
the time to look at the new website. You will need to, because after this Rev Up, they will no longer
be delivered to your home. They will be online
only and I think this will be easier on the public
and ROAR. Now you wont have to worry if your
mailing address is right because you can read it
or download it from the website. There are already
several issues available, just click on REVUP.
This issue includes a ballot for the election of
a VP position, as well as our own region direc-
